Johnson & Johnson’s WISTEM2D program provides an opportunity for UCI to nominate up to six female faculty members, one each in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing and Design.

The Johnson & Johnson WiSTEM2D Scholars Award is a $150,000 award over three years to support women pursuing research in STEM2D (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing & Design). The WiSTEM2D Scholars Award aims to fuel the development of female STEM2D leaders and feed the STEM2D talent pipeline by awarding and sponsoring women at critical points in their research careers, in each of the STEM2D disciplines.

UCI’s Selma Masri of Biological Chemistry received this award in the Science category in 2022.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant must be a woman working in the field(s) of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing and Design at the assistant or associate professor level at the time of application.

Applicant should have a degree for the appropriate field:

  • Science: MD, PhD
  • Technology: PhD
  • Engineering: PhD
  • Math: MS, PhD
  • Manufacturing: PhD
  • Design: MA, MS, MDes, MArch, MFA, MLA, PhD

Amount per award: $150,000
Duration of award: 3 Years
Number of awards: 6 (one in each field)

UCI may submit one application in each category.

To submit your application, please apply by Monday, August 8th,  at 11:59 PM PDT through the UCI Review site, and include the following information:

  • Cover Sheet, with name, contact information, title of the project, and the disciplinary area for which you would like to be considered:  (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing, Design)
  • CV (no more than 3 pages)
  • Research project summary of no more than 2 pages detailing your proposed area of research. One additional page can be added for images and references.
